Art cards are one of my favorite things. Being able to take a small, beautifully crafted piece of work with you anywhere, displaying it, and even playing with it is such a cool idea to me.

I did Shrek the Musical at my local theatre (2026), and as a gift for my entire cast, I decided to make artworks of everyone's characters and give them their respective character.

Utilizing Procreate I was able to create 20+ different cards where each face was a fairy tale creature from the world of Shrek. The process itself was a little tedious. After having all the artwork done, I would place them on Illustrator utilizing rulers and snapping to line the cards up 3x3 as centered as it could be. After printing all the face art and the back art multiple times, I would then laminate the work with a holographic lamination, spray the two backs with adhesive, and stick them together. Finally, I would cut the cards with scissors and use a corner cutter to round the cards for finalization.

Some of the challenges involved messing up the placement of lamination, and the cutting process took longer than I would have hoped. I tried a paper cutter, but then the cards' lamination would begin to fray, and to ensure a good quality, the scissors were the better option.​
